Smidgin & Company is a proudly Canadian dog-treat brand founded on a simple principle: our four-legged companions deserve real treats made from the finest real ingredients.  

Our Essentials Collection showcases treats that are 100% Canadian in origin and production, reflecting a commitment to purity, provenance, and craftsmanship. Complementing this is our International Collection, featuring only the world’s most exceptional human-grade proteins, responsibly sourced from select global partners. Each bite exemplifies uncompromising quality, genuine transparency, and the elevated standard of care that defines Smidgin & Company.

Every Smidgin & Company treat is produced in Ontario, Canada in a CFIA-inspected Canadian facility using human-grade, government inspected proteins. 

We use a proprietary diced-lung process that creates high-value training treats that are light, crisp, nutrient-dense, and insanely drool-worthy. No fillers, no preservatives, no mystery meats. Just pure 100% human-grade proteins — crafted in small batches with serious quality standards, ready-to-go straight out of the bag!

Yes — and we’re loud about it. Our single-protein treats contain exactly one ingredient, and our Snackola mixes combine those same single proteins into custom edition multi-protein blends - like granola for dogs, without the raisins. No binders, no additives, no “natural flavouring” nonsense.

Because treat aisles were full of over-processed fillers wearing “healthy” disguises. Our founder wanted simple, honest, Canadian-made treats she could trust for her own dogs — and that turned into a full-blown mission to give dogs everywhere something better.

The Drool Approval Team is our panel of very serious (and very snack-motivated) taste testers — real dogs with real personalities. Smidgin, MilliGram, Arlo, Flynn, Daisy, Fergie and more help us ensure every treat hits the highest standard: “will immediately sit, stare, and drool for more.”

Yes — 100% Canadian owned, woman-owned, and run with an obsessive love for dogs. Canadian ingredients are our first-choice in protein sourcing for our Essentials Line. We aren’t just a company with a Canadian address importing pet-food-grade proteins from overseas and packaging it here, and calling it Canadian. We are Canadian, from location, to raw sourced product, to manufacturing facility, to our packaging printing company. When we can't get a protein here in Canada, you can be sure it is of the highest quality for our International line. Only the best human-grade protein ever, and we'll tell you so you know!

We partner with Canadian farmers and processors who share our standards for quality, safety, and ethical sourcing. Everything is 100% human-grade and government inspected. If we wouldn’t feed it to our own dogs, it doesn’t go in the bag — period.

We prioritize local sourcing, minimal processing, and recyclable packaging wherever possible. Our short supply chain means fewer transport emissions and fresher ingredients from farm to bowl. We did everything possible to have recyclable packaging, however at this present time the market doesn’t have North American supplied recyclable packaging.

Absolutely. Our manufacturing partner follows strict CFIA and HACCP protocols. Each batch is monitored for consistency, safety, and quality — because “good enough” isn’t in our vocabulary. Only the very best will do.

Yes — we’re deeply involved in the dog community through agility events, sponsorships, giveaways, rescue initiatives, and our “Treats of the Trade Tour.” Dogs support us, so we support them right back. We provide 1% of all retail sales to dog related charities annually.

The brand is named after Smidgin — the Mini Schnauzer with big opinions and even bigger snack demands. She got her name after a week of loving her, and a comment was made as I held her in one hand… “wow, she’s just a smidgin of a thing, isn’t she?” And it stuck. She’s the original muse, taste-tester, and CEO (Chief Eating Officer).
